Trekking

Just came back from a 2D1N camping @ Teluk Golek, Mersing, Johor.
The journey to Teluk Golek was about 3 hours from UTM, Skudai. The journey was bumpy and lots of sharp turnings. Well, u might wanna imagine this. We woke up early in the morning (6am), hopped on the bus, and get ready to sleep throughout the 3-hour journey. Unfortunately, we got irritated when our sleep got disturbed with the bumpy and turnings. Fuuh...tough.

We stopped by a place where they told us to take our meals. It was 10.30am, so we thought it was a tea break. Most of us think so, and skipped the meal.

DAY 1
Upon reaching the place, we were informed by the lecturer that they do not have food served in the canteen. Food will only be available upon early requests prior to the visit. So, no lunch for most of us. We were told to setup the tents for the night.

We started the jungle trekking at around 2.30pm.
[here we go, into the woods]
63 climbers and one guide. I guess the guide got really pissed off with our speed as we demanded for a stop almost every 10 minutes. However, the climb was really challenging. The way up was sloppy and we challenged our muscles to the max. A climber suffered cramp on the way up the peak. She was just 2/3 person ahead of me. She sounded so loud that the guide who was around 20 persons ahead actually stopped and 'hop' down. Yes, jumping, bouncing and hopping in the jungle. He is really an expert. While others at the back started to dash up the slopes to check out wat happened. Their stamina boosted out of the sudden? haha...

Due to the stamina limitation of the young climbers, we reached the peak around one and a half hour later.

[after lots of sweat and tears *thumbs up*]

[the view from the peak]
[after taking all the pictures, they uploaded it on FB!!! No doubt yellow man is everywhere, one of them actually answered a call in the jungle during the climb]

We were told by our lecturer (he didnt climb with us, probably enjoying the sandy beach), we can actually see pulau tioman from the peak. Encik! Which is pulau tioman?? Haha...but dont blame him. The cloud was thick and guess what! It started raining a while after we reached the peak. Good!

Since it started to rain, wat else? take pictures and run! Since the journey to the top was so difficult, they snapped pictures non-stop. Haiz. Hey, its raining already!!!

[Finally, down we go!]

Smiling brightly without knowing the danger is coming
Enjoying taking pictures every now and then coz the way down was kind of slow. Without knowing wat is coming.

It was raining. Well in the woods, whether it is raining or shining, u hardly feel anything. But this is heavy. I wet my hair. It was a mess.
Rain+Sweat+Sand=Terrible

The way out was very very very dangerous. The rain wet the ground and it became very slippery. Most of us slipped a few times. Some cases required us to slide down the slopes. It was scary. We grabbed the trunks and branches. A lot of them were damaged by us. Broken branches everywhere. None of us came out clean. We were very dirty and wet.
Finally, out of the woods!! But, it's a no-man-island. Wooohooo!! anybody home!! some said we're in LOST. :'( Waited for others to exit. and the guide was the last to exit. Haha..we were at the other side of the beach. Walked along the beach for 20 minutes and we reached our campsite. Fuuyoh. Challenging my muscles and stamina to the max. We were back on the beach at around 5.30pm. Just as predicted by the ex-army lecturer.
[the mountain we climbed. 1089m! I dunno where's the peak XD]

All youngsters, but none of us can stand the challenge (except for WS, the water-polo athlete). The next challenge. Cook for dinner. Without shower, cook comes first. We didnt complained bout tat becoz we were super hungry. Remember? I mentioned, most of us skipped lunch. I'm not sure if it is really nice. But we finished everything. Rice, baked bean and canned vegetable. When we were around to eat, there comes the rain! Run! we ran to eat in the tent. Haha. They said 'cave'.
[dinner]
The wind was blowing so strong that night. We were enjoying the breeze at the beach all night long. Talking and laughing to kill time.

I was having headache probably bcoz of the rain and the pressure of challenging the body during trekking. Most of us didnt move much and some slept arond 8.30pm!! I can understand that everyone's tired. I was trying to sleep at 10.30pm. But didnt sleep well. Sleeping in the tent on the beach as not so bad. The sand is cold but a little hard. But i think it is better than sleeping in the jungle with tree roots and rocks.

At around 11.30pm, my camp-mates joined me. However, we didnt sleep well coz some youngsters just cant sleep so early. Since it;s the high tide and it was raining, they hided under the endowment right in front of my tent. They chatted bout girls and boys before talkative WS joined them. Since he's the talkative WS, u can predict what happened next. He started to 'host' the night. They started off singing a few songs. It was beautiful. They have beautiful voices. Well, if u think that ppl sings for u when u r about to sleep, u r wrong. They dont just sing. They laughed a lot too. Finally, the host of the night said: It's 12.50am. Let's end this and go to bed. Unfortunately, no one stands and leave.

Then they started to gossip. Talked bout this and that. This guy...that guy. Bla...bla..bla...the 3 of us didnt sleep :P hahaha...they continue to talk and talk till around 2.00am. Finally, everyone go to bed, so do us.

DAY 2
The next morning (b4 7am), mr lecturer sat at the same place and started talking to the malay girls go woke up early. AIYO!!! wat a strategic place. We heard every single word very clearly.

As for breakfast, nasi lemak and teh tarik!

Breakfast at the beach with teenagers and kids playing. The universities students are perhaps too old to be that active. hahahaha. None of us join them. None of us play in the beach.

9am, bus arrived. Off we go! Around 12pm, safely arrived at UTM after a few hours of roller coaster rides.

Note: Weird. I didnt have muscle pains. Only a little in my arms. Not legs. Weird. I used to much strength to grab trees. Sorry trees!
